TAION
Nagoya, Japan · since 2016
Thin down vests and jackets that go under a coat and pack into their own bag.
TAION started in 2016 in Japan as a brand of inner down: thin quilted vests, jackets and shirts made to be worn under a coat, and light enough to be forgotten once they are on. The name is the Japanese word for body temperature. The company behind it, TAION Co., is based in Nagoya, in Aichi.
The idea was a plain one. When the brand began, a down layer from an outdoor label cost around thirty thousand yen; TAION set out to make the same kind of piece at a lower price, in more colours and cuts than anyone else in the category. Four of its first styles sold forty thousand pieces in their first year. Each piece comes with a bag to pack it into, and the range has grown from the basic vest to military, mountain and city lines, with collaborations with Universal Works among others.
Why we stock TAION
The layer that solves the cold half of the year in Barcelona: a down vest under a jacket in January, a shirt-jacket on its own in March, and nothing to carry once it warms up, because it packs into its own bag. TAION makes exactly that, in more cuts and colours than the outdoor labels, at a price that makes sense for something worn every day. We stock the vests and jackets, not the full range.
The first TAION pieces arrive in Barcelona with Supply 001, in Oct 2026.
