What we look for
People and houses who still decide how their things are made, can tell us where, and aren’t already in every store in Europe. Materials, ingredients and finish we can check. And we want things that are better on the tenth day than on the first.
We start with the maker. We want to know who runs it, where each thing is sewn or filled, and what it is made of. If a maker can’t tell us, we don’t stock them.
Then the thing itself. We look at the corners, the zips, how a strap is fixed, the list on the back of a bottle. A good one can be repaired and is plain about what it is.
Price comes last. It has to be fair for what you get.
